Keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) is a potent and specific mitogen for different types of epithelial cells, and it can protect these cells from various insults, which is white lyophilized powder with molecule weight of 19.3KDa, water soluble. Currently there are families of KGF-1 and KGF-2.
KGF is used in skin care products to thicken and repair epidermis layer to smooth wrinkles; repair skin corneal layer to defer the moisture loss of skin; repair wounded epidermis corneal layer to lower the skin sensitivity.
KGF regulates skin cell metabolism based on its complex message transfer network. The physiological functions include:
KGF only acts on epithelial cells instead of fibroblasts and epithelial cells, which specifically stimulates the growth, division and transplant of skin epithelial cells by the combination with the relevant receptor(KGFR) of epithelium membrane.
KGF can stimulate the growth of mature human horn cells; protect radiation and bad motivation from outside, which is anti-inflammatory as well.
KGF lyophilized powder is used as a single product together with dissolution medium; also added to creams and aqua as a function ingredient.
