Guar Gum Splits/Powder |
|
|
Cyamposis Tetragomolobus that is well known as Guar is a plant belonging to vast family of Leguminosal. Galactomannan polymer (guar gum) is a complex carbohydrate derived from the seed of Cyamposis Tetragomolobus. This carbohydrate is a long chain linear molecule with a molecular weight of approximately 1 million. The long polymer chains attract and weakly capture water; as well as physically tangle with one another in solution thus producing viscosity when mixed with water.
Guar Splits: Dehulled guar seeds are broken into two halves. They are guar splits. When fine layer of protein is removed from the endosperm halves by polishing, they become Refined Dehusked Splits. Guar Splits can be classified according to the purities, percentages of dehusking etc.
Guar Gum Powder: When the splits are pulverised into powder, the product is known as guar gum powder. Guar powder is generally free flowing cream color powder available in different viscosities and granulometries. It is hydrocolloids with high molecular value. It is soluble in hot/cold water.
Applications :
Guar Gum is generally used as a thickener, binder and stabiliser. -
