Anping County Gabion Baskets Factory a specialized manufacturer of wire mesh and gabions located in Anping, the famous Wire Mesh Land of China. [Sell] Trapezoidal Gabions |

Formed from wire grid and welded at the intersections to give dimensionally stable mesh panels.
The trapezoidal gabion box is based on the Gabion 27 System and is formed by hinging the face and back panels to the base panel and the lid to the rear panel with ‘C’ rings or clips. The unit is provided with preformed frames of the required shape that are fitted in the factory to the base panel and/or supplied loose for fixing on site.
On site, vertical joints are helicalled (supplied as standard) and horizontal joints are continuously laced (wire supplied as standard) or can be clipped with 'C' rings (supplied at additional cost).
To close the ends of a run of units, special bespoke trapezoidal gabion panels to the required shape are supplied and fitted on site.
The units are transported to site flat packed for assembly on site.
Once erected, the gabions are filled with stone or rock and the lid secured to form a monolithic structure.

Maccaferri welded gabions units filled on site with hard, durable stone to form mass gravity retaining structures. Due to their inflexibility, welded gabions are generally not considered suitable in areas susceptible to differential settlement, or in water courses.
Maccaferri welded gabions are available in a variety of wire diameters and unit sizes to meet project requirements.
In common with all gabions during installation, all welded units need internal bracing wires and to be overfilled to allow for settlement of the granular rock fill.

This application of gabions is relatively new, the purpose is to achieve a textured finish to buildings and other structures.
Normally a thin vertical face of gabions 0.3 to 0.5m thick is secured to the main body of the building with clamp bars. Sizing of the cells of the units is important for constructional and aesthetic reasons and should not exceed a face area of 0.7 x 0.7m, otherwise deformation of the face can occur. The minimum wire diameter for the gabions should be 4mm for cladding up to 4 to 5m. Above this height a 5mm diameter should be used for the lower 4 to 5 m with a 4mm wire above.
Where a gabion facing is required with a sloping face, trapezoidal gabions can be used with the face inclined and the rear face vertical. It may be possible to design this type of cladding as an effectively free standing wall not physically tied back to the main structure.

Design Procedure
The design procedure for gabions is as follows. It uses the same roughness relationships developed for riprap.
Step 1. Determine channel slope, channel shape, and design discharge.
Step 2. Select a trial (initial) mattress thickness and fill rock D50, perhaps based on available sizes for the project. (Also, determine specific weight of proposed stone.)
Step 3. Estimate the depth. For the first iteration, select a channel depth, di. For subsequent iterations, a new depth can be estimated from the following equation or any other appropriate method.
As with riprap linings, the ability to deliver the expected channel protection depends on the proper installation of the lining. Additional design considerations for gabion linings include consideration of the wire mesh; freeboard; proper specification of gradation and thickness; and use of a filter material under the gabions.
The stability of gabions depends on the integrity of the wire mesh. In streams with high sediment concentrations or with rocks moving along the bed of the channel, the wire mesh may be abraded and eventually fail. Under these conditions the gabion will no longer behave as a single unit but rather as individual stones. Applications of gabion mattresses and baskets under these conditions should be avoided. Such conditions are unlikely for roadside channel design.

Gabion walling is being used to retain fill and grout that is to be placed under an existing bridge. The bridge is no longer required and requires additional support. The access was very restricted and the gabions had to be filled from under the bridge and from the road on top of the bridge.
Gabions are free-draining walls constructed by filling large baskets with broken stone. The baskets are made from galvanised steel mesh, woven strips, or plastic mesh. They can also be made from wickerwork, bamboo slats, nylon or polypropylene. A typical basket is rectangular with dimensions of about 50 cm by 15 cm.
Retention is achieved form a combination of the stones weight, and its interlocking and frictional strength. The wall face is battered at approximately 6 degrees from the vertical. The maximum height is approximately 10 m. They are constructed with either a stepped face or a stepped back.
The permeability and flexibility of gabions make them suitable where the retained material is likely to be saturated and where the bearing quality of the soil is poor. Wire mesh gabions have two forms, baskets which are used for walls and mattresses which are used for revetments and river linings.
The actual shape of gabion retaining walls is trapezoidal. However the outer and inner faces may be straight or steeped. The width of the horizontal tread of the steps should not exceed the depth of the gabion. Walls can have a plane outer face, preferably built to a batter for appearance and to increase resistance to overturning. Similarly walls with stepped faces should be tilted towards the backfill. Counterforts or buttresses may be incorporated in the construction.

Reinforced EcoSleeves are used to reduce sheet erosion and create a microclimate for vegetation establishment. All mild steel wire is heavily zinc coated. When used in more severe environments, a 0,5 mm nominal thick PVC coating is extruded over the galvanised wire to provide added protection. Reinforced EcoSleeves are manufactured in hexagonal woven wire Mesh Type 80. For some lighter applications, EcoSleeves may be supplied without the mesh reinforcement.
Gabion mesh case can be filled with stones, especially the round stone or the fresh stone which was produced from the quarry. If you need the material with special gravity, Gabion mesh certainly can be your first choice. For persistency of the structure, these stones must be able to resist the climatic change, it is cannot burning and dissolution, and also must be quite hard.

What are Gabions ?
Gabions are wire mesh boxes, containers or baskets filled with rock to prevent soil erosion and to retain/contain soil particles. They reduce water velocities and re-capture river bed sediment in streams. Flat Gabions, called River or Reno Mattresses are widely used in river courses where soil erosion is a problem over a wide flat area and a large area needs to be protected against soil loss/scour. They are used mostly in the civil engineering industry especially in the construction of roads, however recently due to their environmental benefits are being used in many various applications and industries.
