8" Sieve Shakers
8" SS-15 Sieve Tester is a budget, portable, 8" / 203mm sieve shaker designed to outperform other comparably priced equipment. The 1/4-hp unit is widely accepted by state transportation departments for highway materials testing. Back and forth lateral motion is combined with up and down and tilting motions to cause test material to travel in an orbit on the sieve surfaces. This forced travel assures full use of sieve mesh area without precise leveling of the tester. The SS-15 is recommended primarily for No. 4 to No. 200 size range, but may be used with larger material sizes when specifications for sieve loading and sample quantities permit. The Tester holds 6 full-height sieves and pan or 13 half-height sieves and pan. Clamp bar with attached cover secures sieves. The 15-minute timer has an adjustable knob-stop for improved repeatability, and a "hold" feature for continuous running. Freestanding operation is normal, but may be mounted via holes provided in bottom end flanges.
3" Sieve Shakers
3" / 76 mm Sieve Shaker is designed for small samples of chemicals, minerals, pharmaceuticals, powdered metals, cosmetics, abrasives, ores, foods, and other fine powders. Useful range is 75 μm - 4.75 mm (No. 200 to No. 4 sieve sizes) with woven wire sieves, but many materials may be sized smaller using electroformed sieves.
High frequency, 3600 vpm, electromagnetic vibratory action with 0-100% amplitude control is ideal for fine particle separations. Inline solenoid-actuated tapping action may be used during vibration (60 taps/min.) to speed dry separations. Also use the tap separately for tap-settling and bulk density tests. During dry sieving, the tapping action redistributes the sample on the sieves, and breaks static blinding, helping to clear undersize particles rapidly.
Model SS-3 includes a platform assembly for up to seven full-height. 3" / 76 mm metal sieves and pan or 14 acrylic sieves and pan. The unique sieve clamping mechanism makes insertion and removal of the sieve stack simple and convenient, yet holds the sieves snugly during operation. The captive knobs on the clamping mechanism allow it to be raised with a quick twist, releasing the sieves. The mechanism remains at this height until the knobs are twisted in the opposite direction clamping the sieves in place. The Performer III’s compact size, small footprint, and quiet operation make it an extremely desirable instrument for dry powder sample separations.
Model SS-3 features include an attractive, but rugged coated steel case, on/off controls for vibration and a manual/timed mode switch. A digital timer showing time set and time remaining, the numbered vibration control knob, and simple, efficient electromagnetic vibratory action enable the Performer III to give reliable, repeatable results. Optional stackable acrylic 3" / 76 mm see-through cylinder is helpful for observing sample action while leveling platform or for setting vibration.

Heavy Duty Shaker
Heavy Duty motorized sieve shaker holds up to 10 full height 2" deep, 20 half height 1" deep plus pan and cover. The shaker has a three way shaking action. Each revolution imparts a horizontal and vertical movement and a jolting action. The platform moves side to side with a jolt at each change of direction, plus a slight upward movement. This creates a quick efficient movement and separation of material. The unit is designed with Heavy Duty steel parts and there are no chains, belts, or flywheels, to wear out, which minimizes downtime and results in a longer lasting shaker.

Pocket Sieve Set
High quality pocket sieves are very useful for testing small samples either in the laboratory or on site. The brass sieve has a range of interchangeable mesh discs of different aperture sizes. It is supplied complete with a sieve brush and belt pouch.

Microplate Sieves
For very fine particle size analysis Hengfeng produce a range of microplate sieves made from electro-formed nickel plate in stainless steel frames of 100 mm diameter. Available with unique self clearing apertures in sizes from 5 μm upwards.
Wet Washing Sieves

Sieving
Sieving is sometimes referred to as the Cinderella of the particle-size analysis, because it performs most of the work but gets little of the credit.
New high-tech processes of Sedimentation, Laser Diffraction and Image Analysis get most of the headlines. Issues affecting the universal implementation of these methods vs. sieving are high instrument cost, calibration, extensive operator training and procedural discipline.
Sieving has occasionally a bad name because tests are sometimrs performed with subpar sieve mesh. Consequently, much has been made of obtaining sieves certified via ASTM or ISO mesh standards.
Sieve Certification
Optical approaches can accomplish this, either with a microscope or video image analysis. Results are presented in terms of maximum and minimum aperture size on the warp and on the weft, largest admissible openings and average openings. The number of openings measured is specified, means are calculated and a report is then generated.
The proscribed optical certification methods examine only a small number of the openings -- usually less than 1percent. For example, a 63-micron sieve has 2.5 million apertures; the ASTM method requires less than 1000 apertures. Opening size tolerances can exceed 10 percent. A 63-micron sieve has allowable tolerances of 12 microns or almost 20 percent.

What Is A Mid-Point Sieve?
A mid-point test sieve has had the mesh inspected. The sieve is then selected as a mid-point if the results give tolerances that are in the middle of the ASTM Standard. For example, the ASTM permissible variations for the mesh of a No. 40 sieve (425μ) are:
1:Average Opening ±19μ.
2:Opening Dimension of 396μ not exceeded by more than 5% of the openings.
3:maximum individual opening 502μ.
The mid-point would have a variation in Average Opening of ±9.5μ, opening dimension of 396μ not exceeded by more than 2.5% of the openings and a maximum individual opening of 463.5μ. The effect of this tightened tolerance is an improvement in variation of approximately 30%. These results are traceable to a NIST standard.
Where Should Mid-Point Sieves Be Used?
When a process requires a high level of repeatability, mid-points can be used on all sieve tests. However, the predominant application for the mid-point sieves is as master stack. A master stack is used to check and recalibrate sieves used in everyday testing.
Summary
If your process must have traceability and the precision and repeatability of your sieve testing results is critical to your process or customer requirements, Mid-Point sieves should be considered for the master stacks and for every day testing of supercritical processes.

What Do We Mean By Working Sieves?
Because we carry high precision Mid-Point and Mesh Certified Test Sieves (MCTS) we need to make a distinction between them and the work-horse sieves used day to day. These sieves that do not require special inspection but need to conform to the basic standards of ASTM E-11, we call Working Sieves. The Working Sieves are available in Brass frames with brass or Stainless Steel mesh. We also supply stainless steel frames with stainless steel mesh. Working Sieves are available with 8 inch and 12 inch diameter frames. The frames are full height and one half height depths.
These sieves are constructed using ASTM standard wire cloth (mesh) and are supplied with a Certificate of Conformance. The mesh has not been individually inspected. Each sieve has a serial number which is related to a lot number.
Working Sieves are used in a diverse range of industries that include construction, mining, food, soil testing pharmaceuticals. They can be checked against master stacks, master samples or calibration spheres (beads) to test for wear or mesh damage.
There are no more economical and practical sieves for everyday use where extra tight and traceable standards are not required.
Summary
These Working Sieves are the intelligent choice for the application that has a limited requirement for traceability but needs a work horse sieve to perform on test after test.
