The research to cytology based on in vitro cancer cell proved that Resveratrol could inhibit the breeding of various cancer cells. The proliferation of cancer cells is due to secretion of ROS by stimulus and a certain quantity of O-2 and H2O2. Another research proved that Resveratrol has very strong inhibition to the total ROS self-secreted by cancer cells. Zerumbone is a sesquiterpene phytochemical from a type of edible ginger known as "Zingiber Zerumbet Smith" grown in Southeast Asia or "Zingiber aromaticum", called also in china as Wild Ginger. Zerumbone is currently being explored for its effects on cancer in general and Leukemia in particular.
Medicinal Properties of Zerumbone:
1.Suppresses free radical generation;
2.Anti-inflammatory;
3.Suppresses cancer cell proliferation accompanied by apoptosis: "abolishes NF-kappaB and IkappaBalpha kinase activation leading to suppression of anti-apoptotic and metastatic gene expression, upregulation of apoptosis, and downregulation of invasion." Historical Uses of Zerumbone:
This variety of Ginger was carried by Polynesians throughout the islands of the Pacific, from Taiwan where it has always been used by the indigenous population, to Hawaii where it is known as "awapuhi". Zerumbet Ginger is used in cooking for flavour, in the treatment of swellings, strains and bruises as a poultice, as a decoction for settling upset stomachs, for toothache as an anaesthetic, for the treament of cuts and sores, and for tinea and ringworm. The clear liquid contents of the cones are used as a shampoo. The parts used are the rhizome, the leaves and the cone.

For over 3000 years, people have eaten touchi as a preserved food or used it for seasoning.The Touchi extract has a property to inhibit the activity of alpha-glucosidase. In other words, in the presence of the Touchi extract, glucose and fructose are hardly produced from maltose and sucrose at the small intestine. Thus, absorption of carbohydrates or sucrose through the small intestine is markedly retarded, which accounts for the fact that the Touchi extract inhibits the rise of blood sugar level after meal which otherwise would result. Moreover, in the presence of the Touchi extract, carbohydrates or disaccharides remaining undigested are excreted outside the body: as a result, absorption of carbohydrates or disaccharides is inhibited and the blood glucose level is kept low.
The Touchi extract inhibits the activity of alpha-glucosidase, which accounts for the reduced absorption of carbohydrates or disaccharides into body. Thus, the Touchi extract not only directly keeps the blood glucose at level low but removes some causes leading to obesity. In the latter aspect, the Touchi extract further contributes to the cure of diabetes. This property to inhibit the activity of alpha-glucosidase is found only in the bean that has been fermented with Aspergillus sp, and not in raw bean, boiled bean, bean whey, nor boiled bean fermented with a strain of Bacillus subtilis natto. The experiment showed that this effect exists only in the Touchi extract.

Rhodiola Rosea L. here means as the root and rhizome of Rhodiola Rosea L. As rare Chinese medicinal herbs in ancient China, it has also been used in Tibet medicine.
1. Shape: Perennial herbaceous, with height 15-35cm. The root of which is 20-50cm long, is coarse and strong, standing in straight or tilting. Light yellow on the surface of young root, and brown on the surface of old root. The seed presents round shape, with length about 2mm.
Florescence: April to June;
Fruit period: July to Sep.
2. Gathering: Should be done in Autumn when the leaves turn withered. Remove broken stem and mud, keep it dry in the sunshine directly. Not good to gather it in spring, due to the content of Rosavins in earlier stage of sprouting & blossom is only 50% of that in fruit period.
3 .Distribution: Most of the Rhodiola Rosea L. plants grow in hilly area with limestone, & granite, in glacier, grassland or in the rock of ravine, with altitude of 3500-5000m, of which distributing widely in Siberia and northern America. Iin China it is mainly distribute in northern east of China, generally in hillside or grass slope with altitude of 1600-2700m.
