Resveratrol (3,5,4'-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) is a stilbenoid, a type of natural phenol, and a phytoalexin produced naturally in medicinal plants of the Polygonum species (Polygonaceae), Polygonum cuspidatum root also named japanese knotweed.
