Brief Introduction:
It is light yellow or white lyophilized powder, a particular protein (also called bioactive peptide) with low molecular weight and high sulfhydryl content, which attaches metallic ions. The purity ranges from 60% to 95%.
1. Low molecular weight: usually 6000-7000 Dalton, with 60-63 amino acid residues.
2. High metal content: each molecular protein attaches 7 divalent metail ions, or 18 univalent metal ions.
3. Particular amino acids: non-aromatic amino acids and histidines, Cys residues (approximately 23-33%), no disulfide bond.
4. Characteristic amino acid sequence: Cys residues are still important in amino acid sequence; all the Cys residues exist in reduced state, which attach metal ions by thioester bonds.
Function:
Science experiments and clinical results show: metallothionein is very effective in resisting ionizing radiation and ultraviolet irradiation; releasing metal toxins; treatment of digestive tract ulcer, myocardial infarction, Inflammations, antianaphylaxis and cancers; skin care; and ease the harm of smoking and environment pollution.
