Shade netting is used to provide shade against sunlight and to control temperature for people, plants or animals. Our low-cost shade cloth is available with 30% to 90% UV blockage.
This knit high-density polyethylene shade cloth blocks out the sun's rays while keeping the area underneath well ventilated and cool. Shade Cloth is typically manufactured from High Density Polyethylene . This fabric is extremely strong and can be treated at the time of manufacture with UV inhibitors to ensure that it can withstand years out in the harsh sun. Most shade cloth is a knitted construction which makes it very strong and when it is cut it won’t unravel. We sell only the finest knitted shade cloth with strong, durable lock stitching that resists tearing, fraying, stretching, and sagging.
Shade Cloths are also rated by Domestic Shade cloths or Commercial Shade cloths. Essentially the difference is that commercial grade shade cloths are monofilament fabrics. One way to think of it is to think of a monofilament shade cloth is as a bit like a fishing line. Domestic grade shade cloth on the other hand is not all monofilament (fishing line).

It is incorrect to assume that the same intervention techniques dedicated to superficial portion of the slopes can be applied for more deep seated instabilities. Superficial instabilities result from alterations and deterioration of the rocks by plant action, thermal expansion, wind and salt erosion, excavation methods, cold and thaw processes, progressive weathering of joints within rocks, hydrostatic pressures, seismic action to name a few. These problems are occasionally reduced to simple schemes. Rather, quantitative assessment should be undertaken to adequately and efficiently quantify the risks associated with possible landslides for a particular slope or set of slopes. The risk assessment should weigh up the probability, magnitude and distribution of occurrences against the unforeseen and undesirable consequence of human casualties, property damage and loss of service. Risk management should focus on identifying key potential risk factors which are logically evaluated in terms of probabilities, costs and other benefits, so as to optimally manage the risk.
Rockfall protection systems have become a key element in the design and maintenance of infrastructure networks impacting directly on safety and necessitating thus, a new approach that encompasses the overall analysis of the rockfall structural system and not the individual components alone. The word "system", best describes the different structural components that interact with one another. |

Rockfall protection can be dealt with in two ways:-
- by curtain meshing the rock faces
- by catch walling
By curtain meshing the face, spalling rocks can be either held in place by pinning the mesh to the rock strata or by draping it over the face guiding the falling rocks harmlessly to the base of the escarpment.
The mesh facing normally has vertical and/or horizontal cabling secured to the mesh/rock to provide fixity and integrity to the jointing of the panels. It is normal to seek advice from specialist installation companies as to the design of this type of work. Additional anchoring of large unstable rock masses on the face may be required.
Catch walling rockfall protection is a freestanding gabion wall of sufficient mass to withstand impact of falling rocks. Location of the catch wall and height of the wall is important to ensure the trajectory of the falling rocks will be impacted on or behind the wall.
Rockfall netting or rock netting as it is commonly called are rolls of wire mesh manufactured using triple twisted PVC coated galvanised or just plain galvanised wire. Anchored to rock face to contain rockfalls. Alternatively, use in conjunction with our range of erosion control mats to help stabilise steep rock faces. One popular example is our Rock netting and Secumat combination which was used behind Fitzgerald's Pub in Avoca.
Unlike chainlink mesh, the strong 'triple twisted' mesh rock netting will not unravel if one of the mesh wires should break.

Measure Wire Cloth |

Coarse Mesh / Wire Mesh
To measure wire cloth (woven wire cloth, stainless steel wire cloth, wire cloth screen, wire cloth strainer, industrial wire cloth, metal cloth, wire cloth) properly, the mesh count should be taken in both directions. On coarse meshes (mesh wire, woven wire mesh, wire mesh basket), this can be accomplished by counting the number of openings per linear inch measuring from wire center to wire center. After taking the first count, a second count should be taken at a 90 degree angle to the original measurement. The mesh count of the cloth shown is 10x10.
Fine Mesh / Wire Mesh
A mesh counter is used to measure finer meshes of wire cloth (woven wire cloth, stainless steel wire cloth, wire cloth screen, wire cloth strainer, industrial wire cloth, metal cloth, wire cloth) accurately. The fine mesh count is taken the same way the coarse mesh is computed by counting the number of openings per linear inch in one direction and taking another count at right angles to the original measurement |
